Areet Kaila

Areet is a Principal with Legacy Tax + Trust Lawyers where she assists clients with personal and corporate tax matters including corporate reorganizations, estate freezes and restructuring for business succession purposes. Areet also provides clients with advice regarding tax-driven trust and estate planning matters including assistance setting up trusts (family trusts, alter ego and joint spousal trusts) and advising on trust transactions including restructuring and winding up. Areet also advises clients on tax planning considerations associated with immigration to and emigration from Canada.  As part of her practice, Areet also advises charities and non-profit organizations on registration, tax compliance and structuring matters.

Areet received her Bachelor of Laws degree (with distinction) from the University of Alberta in 2010. She was called to the Bar in the Province of British Columbia in 2011. Prior to joining Legacy, Areet was a partner at a large regional law firm where she practiced for many years.

Areet has been recognized in the Best Lawyers in Canada directory in the areas of Tax Law and Trusts and Estates.

Areet has completed the CPA Canada In Depth Tax Course, and was previously the chair of the Canadian Bar Association of British Columbia, Tax Subsection.
